Adam Lambert Opens Up About Sleeping With Closeted Stars

Adam Lambert opened up about his sex life in a new interview with Glamour UK, revealing he has slept with both women and closeted Hollywood stars.

“I have [slept with a woman] before,” he said in an interview for the June 2015 issue of the fashion magazine. “I did it for the first time when I was 29. It was kind of a random thing, but I was very curious. … It felt great. It was a friend of mine and there was tequila involved and a full moon and then suddenly [laughs].”

Lambert came out publicly as gay in 2009 after appearing on “American Idol,” but said he had “never been in.” He just chose not to discuss his sexuality on his rise to fame.

The singer talked with Glamour UK about Hollywood stars who choose to remain closeted.

“Oh yeah,” he said, when asked if he thinks there are “lots” of gay actors who pretend to be straight. “I’ve been with a few of them. Whether’s it’s music or acting, you’ve got to remember that those industries are primarily run by men, so maybe it’s about that. But with women being the primary moviegoers and record-buyers, surely it shouldn’t matter so much?”

The 33-year-old sings about love and loss on his upcoming album, “Original High,” due out this summer.

“It’s a bit schizophrenic,” he told Ryan Seacrest. “We all have heartache, we all go through things that maybe make us a little jaded or bitter in life, and the song is kind of asking, ‘Hey, despite all that, am I still able to love? Is that going to happen for me? Is it in the cards?'”

Northern Ireland left behind on gay marriage issue

Thousands join demonstration calling for an end to province’s status as ‘last bastion of discrimination against gay people in these islands’

Northern Ireland has been left behind in the struggle for gay equality, the Irish trade union movement said on Saturday, as thousands marched in Belfast to call for the recognition of same-sex marriage.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) pointed out that the province once led the way in terms of rights for same-sex partners.

gay Northern Ireland

“In 2005, history was made when Northern Ireland became the first place in the UK to hold a civil partnership. Ten years later, with every other part of these islands recognising marriage equality, citizens in Northern Ireland have effectively been left behind,” the ICTU said.

The demonstration through central Belfast to city hall was part of a campaign by local gay rights organisations and human rights groups for the province’s law to be changed. Among those marching was Snow Patrol’s lead singer, Gary Lightbody.

Amnesty International said the region was now the “last bastion of discrimination against gay people in these islands”.

Patrick Corrigan, Amnesty’s regional director, said: “Northern Ireland’s discriminatory laws are a badge of shame, not to be worn by the people of Northern Ireland, a majority of whom support same-sex marriage, but by those politicians who oppose equal treatment for the LGBTI community.”

In April, a Sinn Féin motion on marriage equality was defeated, with 47 Northern Ireland assembly members voting in support, but 49 unionists voting against. Even if there had been a small majority in favour, the DUP would have exercised a special veto drawn up under devolution.

The so-called petition of concern allows any party to veto legislation if it can argue the law would not have sufficient cross-community or Protestant-Catholic support.

The Rainbow Project, one of Northern Ireland’s main gay rights organisations, has confirmed that a gay couple are planning a legal case in an effort to overturn the ban on gay marriage in the region.

Among those to back the call for marriage equality in Northern Ireland was Belfast’s Olympic boxing medalist Paddy Barnes. “I’m hoping to be married myself and I believe that everyone should be able to marry the person they love. It’s as simple as that,” he said.

Other Northern Irish celebrities to have voiced their support for the campaign include the singer Brian Kennedy and the actors Stephen Rea and Bronagh Gallagher.

The demonstration took place just three weeks after the Irish electorate voted decisively in favour of gay marriage equality in the first national referendum of its kind.

Pro-gay marriage campaigners point out that the different legal status of same-sex couples on either side of the Irish border will create anomalies.

A gay couple married in Dublin who have to relocate to Belfast, for example, would not have their marriage recognised in law if they settled there.

Thousands of gay rights campaigners march in Belfast

Thousands of people have attended a march in Belfast, calling for the introduction of civil marriage for same-sex couples in Northern Ireland.

The march began at Writer’s Square and moved towards Belfast City Hall, where a rally was held.
The organisers said Northern Ireland is “out on a limb” as the only part of the UK and Ireland not to change its laws.

The Northern Ireland Assembly has debated the issue four times, and each time MLAs rejected same-sex marriage. ‘Left behind’

Saturday’s demonstration was organised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU), Amnesty International and the Rainbow Project.

Patrick Corrigan, Amnesty International’s Northern Ireland programme director, was among those who addressed the rally.

He said it was “simply unacceptable for the state to discriminate against people on the grounds of their sexual orientation or gender identity”.

“Amnesty International believes that states should end discrimination on this basis and instead ensure that all families are equally protected before the law,” he said.

“That’s why we are on the march today and why we will walk every step of the way with you and the LGBTI community, and why we will not stop until every one of us can enjoy the same rights and recognition before the law.”

The singer and actress Bronagh Gallagher performed at the event, which was attended by a number of Northern Ireland politicians. The Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody was also present.
In a statement, the ICTU said: “In 2005, history was made when Northern Ireland became the first place in the UK to hold a civil partnership.

“Ten years later, with every other part of these islands recognising marriage equality, citizens in Northern Ireland have effectively been left behind.”

The ICTU added that its members had “played a leading role in campaigning for a Yes vote in the marriage equality referendum in the Republic of Ireland”.

Last month, more than 62% of the electorate in the Republic of Ireland voted to legalise same-sex marriage.

It was the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage by a referendum.

Renowned Northern Ireland novelist Glenn Patterson also spoke at the rally on Saturday and alluding to the symbolism of the DeLorean car currently situated in the grounds of City Hall, asked the crowd to permit him a ‘Back to the Future’ moment.

“We will never forsake the blue skies of Ulster for the red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet skies of the Irish Republic,” he said.

“We are going to bring them here.”

Artist Uses Gay Disney Princes as NSFW Reminder

Artist YANN-X has some compelling theories about Disney princes. Speaking to The Huffington Post, the artist explained his inspiration behind depicting iconic male Disney characters in a new light:

My first childhood memory was going to the movie theater with my dad to watch “Snow White.” I was three years old and it hit me like a truck, because Prince Charming — so gentle, yet so manly — thrilled me in a way I never felt before. I had fallen in love! From this moment on I dreamt of becoming an artist (and work for Disney, of course!). Years later, artists like Joe Phillips or David Kawena inspired me anew with their radiant vision of a gay life,as normal and happy as a straight one… and no matter how idealistic, I wanted to be a part of this.

[…] Of course, Disney characters are icons of our collective memory, so tapping that source is like using a universal language — it’s a way to make sure everyone will get my message. So, I give these characters a private life, let them flirt, make love or have fun, not for cheap thrills but as a way to reflect on our feelings and intimacy.
In the same way that YANN-X’s art could prompt us to reflect on the roles gender and sexuality play in our intimacy, I’d also love to see more fanart depicting Disney characters of different sizes, abilities, and levels of conventional attractiveness. (Incidentally, this post on the fetishization of gay men by women may be varying degrees of relevant here.)
